On the day of the wedding, we will be providing babysitters at the venue so that we can have an adults only event but your children can still be close by. This way you can have the option to bring your kids on the trip, but also get a night off to enjoy with us.
Transportation on the day?
We will be providing transportation from the recommended accommodation and back via shuttles or cars, more details to follow
Getting around Cape Town?
UBER! Uber is cheap and readily available
Getting around the Wine Lands?
Uber is very common in Stellenbosch, as it is a student city, so getting from the town to a wine farm is a piece of cake. However, sometimes getting back can lead to long wait times. Any easy way around this issue is to book your return trip in advance to ensure someone will come out there for you.
Do we have to come to the Wine Tour Day or Sundowners Dinner & Drinks?
Of course not, that is just a fun option for people who are around - we'd love to have you but you can explore the gorgeous winelands and Cape Town anyway you like.
What is Load Shedding?
Load shedding is the South African term for rolling black outs. What that means is that for hours throughout the day different parts of the country and city will be without power. You can download the Eskom App to know what areas will be without power during what times. The app is mostly reliable but is known to be wrong. Most hotels have generators or ways in which they handle load shedding but restaurants can be quite impacted. Cellular is not impacted by load shedding and depending on the Wifi set up it can also be unimpacted. We recommend bringing a powerbank just in case.
The currency in South Africa is the South African Rand (ZAR). Most of the time you don't need cash, even the market vendors have pin terminals / card machines, however during load shedding you might want to have some cash on hand.
What is the expected weather?
Being situated in the Southern Hemisphere, we will be in Summer time around the wedding, which means that for most of the trip you will have warm blue sky days. However, Cape Townians will say that you can get four season in a day so don't be alarmed if you see some rain or fog in the morning, the strong winds will move any weather along quite quickly. When it is sunny outside, WEAR SUNSCREEN - a sun burn from the South African sun in another level, avoiding being in the direct sun during peak UV times (usually 12:00-14:00) is advised.
